Organic Moringa,
grown in Sardinia.

We grow certified organic Moringa oleifera, the tree many call the «miracle tree», on the hills of northern Sardinia, and turn its fresh leaves into pesto.

Our story

A tropical tree
on a Mediterranean island.

Moringa oleifera is native to the foothills of the Himalayas. It grows fast, copes with drought, but does not tolerate frost: Sardinia sits right at the edge of the climate it needs.

In 2015 Domenico Vargiu decided to try anyway, in Sorso. First in a greenhouse, then in the open field. That experiment became Samor, our farm: we grow and process Moringa with organic certification, from the field to the jar, and harvest the leaves from June to November.

Our products

Fresh leaves, in a jar.

Green and clean, with a slight peppery note, a bit like rocket. Use it raw: on pasta, bruschetta, pizza, soups and grilled vegetables.

Sold on Agritavola, a marketplace for short-chain Sardinian food (in Italian). Delivery takes 2–5 working days within Italy and 5–8 within Europe. Moringa tea is coming soon.

Research

Farming and research, side by side.

Samor leads Moringa 4 Future Food, an EIP-AGRI operational group funded by the Sardinia Rural Development Programme 2014–2022, with the Italian National Research Council (CNR-ISPAAM) in Sassari. The team studies Moringa as a sustainable food source, for people and for Sardinian dairy sheep.
